Summer excursions are an infallible way to take your weekend bag into use, should a tote bag or rucksack will not suffice. Which garments are must-haves for a weekend in the sun? We have collected some tips for packing the optimal clothes for a classic style. Collect inspiration, choose something or select everything. Happy weekend!

Before thinking about what to pack, you will need a suitable bag. The weekend bag gets its name from the very purpose that you should be able to have a bag big enough to bring everything you need for a stylish weekend. Before filling the bag with your favourite pair of shoes, ask yourself whether you need more shoes with you. If you are travelling in a pair of sneakers, then a pair of loafers or Derby’s are a wise choice to pack. This will make it possible to accommodate the expected or perhaps unexpected dinner. However, if a formal dinner is something that is not at all on the agenda, then choose a pair of sandals instead, ideal for an evening by the barbecue or at the beach.

For a summer weekend, expect that four pairs of trousers are more than enough. This may include a pair of everyday trousers like a pair of jeans or chinos, something that is durable and comfortable to travel in. Then a pair of dressy trousers that can be made of thinner wool or linen. Add a pair of shorts for the warmer days. Finally yet importantly, we have a pair of swimming trunks. Shirt & Polo Shirt

An Oxford shirt is suitable in almost all situations. A casual shirt, short or long sleeve, is also a smart choice and usually does not take up much space. The short-sleeved polo shirt, packed in a corner of the bag, creating a bridge between the shirt and the t-shirt.

Sweater

A knitted pullover or a hoodie/sweatshirt are ideal, depending on the purpose of your weekend. If it is dinners, meetings or generally more celebratory occasions, a knitted pullover should be nearby to throw over your shoulders on a late summer evening. If your weekend goal is relaxation and tranquillity, a hoodie in grey, black or dark blue might be a better option.

T-shirt

A t-shirt is a timeless garment, so make sure to pack at least two. Whilst on a trip, it's nice to have two to alternate with, regardless of whether it's two white t-shirts.

Gym clothes

If the weekend is not a time for recovery and you want to keep up your exercise routine, you might want to bring some gym clothes with you. Shorts, t-shirt, socks and a pair of shoes that you can walk and run in but also perform static training. A light windbreaker, which can be packed without taking up any space in your bag, it is a great garment for late evenings or early mornings.
